For those of you that may not be familiar with the 'Nix command line, I’ve created an easy Terminus installer script. It’s written in PHP, and simply:
- Downloads the latest Terminus phar from Gtihub to
- Moves it to
/usr/local/bin, prompting for
- Checks that the install directory is in
$PATH. If not, it updates path and amends the first common shell conf file it finds.
The purpose for step 3 is to make it easy for advanced users who want to use this script to standardize Terminus installations across their team, and may choose a non-standard path. For those folks, the installation path and conf files to edit are all easily editable at the top of the script.
Please take a look, and let me know if you have any feedback. Is this helpful to you? What should I do to improve it?
Disclaimer: I’m not a dev. I wrote this because if Terminus is going to be someone’s first CLI tool on their path to becoming a Command Line Ninja, I don’t want them to get stuck at the start line.
