Steve, who works as a WordPress Developer for the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering within Arizona State University, has been selected as this month’s Community Champion for his unwavering support and commitment to helping others both on and offline. Steve can often be found in our Developer Community Slack and Forum answering questions and sharing resources on WordPress, the Pantheon Platform, and other open source topics.
Two recent examples of Steve in action on our Community Slack include when he chimed in to assist Reed McDow when they were asking how to ensure their sitemap always shows the correct URL on all of their blog posts and when he offered advice to Timothy Anderson when they determine why their WordPress site posts were dropping or duplicating within a simple while loop (while using Underscores as a starter theme and the_posts_pagination() function for pagination).
When we asked Steve what inspired him to do the work he does today and help others use Pantheon and in open source, this is what he had to say:
Having asked a thousand questions myself about the best practices while using Pantheon, I was happy enough to see a few situations in which I could actually post an answer or two. Taking the time to share also helps solidify my own understanding of how things work.
Steve also shared what he enjoys most about being a part of our community:
I am appreciative that Pantheon actually HAS a community of practice for people building websites with your platform. That’s unique in the hosting space, and I’m happy to have connected with y’all because of it.
And when we asked Steve about his hidden superpower, he replied with:
We’re so glad Steve’s passion for knowledge sharing and community in the open source space led him to web development and Pantheon! Our community wouldn’t be the same without you, Steve.
From the bottom of our heart, we thank you for all you do each and every day to make our community and the open web a better place. We’re so lucky to have you as an integral part of our community and look forward to seeing all the amazing things you’ll continue to do in the future!
Everyone, please join us in congratulating Steve!
