Please join us in congratulating Elda Schaffield, Manager of Student Services Information Systems at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB), for being our Community Champion of the Month for November!
Elda has been awarded the Community Champion badge for her unwavering support & commitment to making the open web a person-centric place! You’ve likely seen Elda jumping in around in Slack, helping community members problem-solve innovative solutions to their unique roadblocks! Which makes sense, considering she shared her favorite thing about being part of our community was “People helping people and answers to our many questions." Thank you for providing some of those answers, Elda!
When we asked Elda what inspired her to do the work she does today, this is what she had to say:
“As someone who grew up on an island with limited resources, we learned to adapt and to improvise solutions. Creativity borne of frugality lead us to become problem solvers. That inspired me to become an engineer.” Improvising and adapting is a hugely useful engineering skill!
It’s safe to say Elda has made a big impact on those she serves & continues to do so today! From the bottom of our heart, we thank you for all you do each and every day to make the open web a better place. We are so lucky to have you as part of our community Elda & we are so excited to see what the future has in store for you!
